The number of clients involved in the EKO‑KOM System has remained on practically the same level in the long-term. The number of importers, manufacturers and fillers of packaging and packaged products, who have decided to transfer their statutory obligations to the EKO‑KOM System fluctuates throughout the year as a result of termination of activities or merger of some companies.
The table indicates a slight increase in the number of involved municipalities and inhabitants participating in the separated waste system. At the present time, more than 73% of the population of the Czech Republic actively participates in waste separation, i.e. almost three quarters of the population! The achieved percentage of recycling of packaging waste has increased, which is most important from the viewpoint of the EU requirements on the Czech Republic.
